The chain's inner links are ultra-smooth and completely free of sharp edges. The result is a perfect coupling between cassette cogs and chain, with less friction, greater quietness, and long durability. The overall design is narrower, capable of withstanding higher angles, and it also has flat outer links, which result in stronger riveting and superior resistance.

Sram engineers developed PowerLock® technology as a secure, durable, and, most importantly, tool-free method for chain installation. Given the tight tolerances of 10-, 11-, and 12-speed drivetrains, each PowerLock can only be used once to avoid compromising drivetrain performance.
